About this blog
Hi and firstly thanks for visiting my blog.
This blog has been set up to keep visitors up to date with my twin cam mini build. The main goal is to get a hybrid “A” series engine to produce around 110BHP and around 95-100Lbft of torque. This engine will run fully mappable fuel injection and ignition timing programmable using the SXTune program from Specialist Components. The engine conversion kit that is going to be used is produced by Specialist Components here in the UK. If you would like to see their prices please use the link in the links page or click here. The car that this engine is going to be fitted to is a 1979 mini 1000 painted in 1960’s GT40 gulf racing livery. The car has been fully restored by myself over the last 5 years but now i have decided it needs the engine to match its looks.
A little about me: I’m a 29 year old engineer from Shropshire UK. I served my apprenticeship with Finning UK (Caterpillar dealer) starting in 2003. This gave me a great base in mechanical and electrical engineering. Currently I work as a commercial gearbox technician. Since starting to drive i have always had a passion for the classic mini. The gulf mini is my third classic mini that i have owned but this was my first complete rebuild. I rebuilt my currently fitted 998 stage 3 fast road “A” series engine and gearbox from scratch and the car drives well. But the engine didn’t match the looks and its not quick enough. Just yet anyway…
If you should have any questions about this build or my car in general please feel free to contact me.
Lets begin…
